Contractors are third-party locators hired to perform the locate on behalf of a company. Setting up a contractor allows tickets to be assigned, delivered and responses received from the contractor to update the ticket in UtiliSphere.
Add Contractor
- On the top menu bar, click System Management ( ) > Administration > General > Contractors
- On the Contractor Summary page, click Add a Contractor
- On the Add a Contractor page, fill in the fields. See Modify Contractor, step 3, below
- On the Contractor Summary page, in the Name column, click the contractor
- On the Contractor Details page, click Modify this Contractor
On the Modify a Contractor / Add an Contractor page, fill in the fields:
Contractor Locator InformationField Description Damage Analysis Name The name of the contractor used in Damage Analysis Description A note about or description of the contractor Name The name of the contractor Email InformationEmail Description Pager Email address of contractor's pager Primary Contractor's most important or preferred email address to receive tickets from you. If unknown, contact the contract locator Secondary Contractor's backup or less important email address Ticket Management InformationUse these settings to let contractors be assigned tickets and work on them
Setting Description Allow Tickets to be Assigned to this Contractor Check to allow tickets to be assigned to this contractor
To send the contract locator's phone number with the positive response to the excavator, add a callback number for the contract locator. You must configure the callback feature: Excavator Positive Response Settings
Allow this Contractor to Enter Responses for Tickets Check to allow contractor to respond to tickets
Positive response to one call center: Allows contractor to send positive responses to the one call center
Positive response to excavator: Allows contractor to send positive responses to the excavator
Add Response to Tickets when Assigned to this Contractor Choose the response to be added to tickets assigned to this contractor
By default responses close tickets. To keep tickets open, check the box for Tickets Will Remain Open after a Response is Added
- Click Save
Reset Contractor Authentication Code
On the Contractor Details page, click Reset Contractor Authentication Code. Result: The page reloads and a new code is generated
If receiving responses from a contract locator, resetting this authentication code prevents their responses from being received until they update their system with this new code.
Generate Contractor Response Information Report
- On the Contractor Details page, click Generate Contractor Response Information
The Contract Locator Response Information window appears. Send this information to the contract locator, so they can configure their system with the response codes needed to respond to tickets and the authentication code identifying the company whose tickets they are updating.
Field Description Authentication Code The code that identifies the company the contractor is responding to Company Name The name of your contractor Contract Locator The name of the contractor One Call Center The organization that receives dig requests from excavators sends them in tickets to companies that own facilities Registration Code The code that identifies the company the contract locator is working for (in some cases, the registration code identifies the facility owned by the company) Response The update to the ticket. Responses can be complete or ongoing and can be used for positive responses to one call centers and excavators Response Code The code that identifies the response. Contract locators send these codes to respond to tickets
Send Tickets Assigned to Contractor

Send End of Day Audit to Contractor
- On the top menu bar, click System Management ( )>Administration>Ticket Management>Ticket Notifications
- On the Ticket Notifications Overview page, in the left column, click End of Day Audit Notifications
On the End of Day Audit Notifications page, click Add an End of Day Audit Notification

Click Back to go back and make corrections
- Click Finish. The End of Day Audit Notification Detail page appears
