Use the Sketch Window to draw, save, and export sketches. If adding sketches to tickets, they are archived as attachments when the ticket is archived. Sketches can be downloaded as ZIP files from archived tickets. To configure sketching, see Sketching.
- In the Actions list, under Notes and Others, click Add Sketch. Result: The Sketch Options window appears
In the Sketch Options window, type name of sketch and choose how to start the sketch:
Sketch Start Description Blank canvas Draw your sketch on a blank canvas. Go to step 3 Image Draw your sketch on an image you upload. Go to step 3 Map Draw your sketch on the map from the ticket or item. Go to step 2a: Map Resume [sketch name] The most recent version of a sketch that has been automatically saved by the system, but not saved by a user, is available by clicking Resume [sketch name [mm/dd/yyyy]]. Go to step 3 Start with nearby sketch If there is a nearby ticket within 5-10 feet that contains a sketch, the most recent version of it can be used as a this ticket's starting point for a new sketch 2a: MapIf starting a sketch with a map there are additional steps, which vary by browser:
Browser Description Google Chrome - In the Sketch Map window, at the bottom center, click Next. Result: The Choose What to Share window appears
- In the Choose What to Share window, in This Tab:
- Click the map
- Click Share. Result: The Choose What to Share window closes. The Add Sketch window appears with the map. Go to step 4
Mozilla Firefox - In the Sketch Map window, at the bottom center, click Next. Result: The Allow Irth to see your screen? window appears
- In the Allow Irth to See Your Screen? window, in the Window or Screen dropdown:
- Click Sketch Map - Mozilla Firefox
- Click Allow. Result: The Add Sketch window appears with the map. Go to step 4
- Click Start with... Result: The Sketch Options window closes. The Add Sketch or Sketch Map window appears
- In the Add Sketch window, use the editing and drawing tools to draw the sketch. Go to Modify Sketch, step 2, below
You can modify saved sketches. The process of modifying ticket and item sketches differs slightly.
Find saved sketch. Saved sketches are stored in ticket and item History (on Details pages) and in these locations:
Details Page Description Item - On the Item Details page, in the upper middle of the page, click the Sketches tab (next to the History tab). Result: The saved sketches appear
- Click the sketch to edit
Ticket - On the Ticket Details page, in the upper right corner of the ticket text window, click Sketches ( ). Result: The Sketch Summary window appears
- On the Sketch Summary window, click the sketch to edit
In the Add Sketch window, use the editing and drawing tools to draw the sketch. Some features need explanation:
Feature (scroll down to see) Description Application List of sketch toolboxes from Sketching. Click sketch toolbox text below the dropdown to draw a line with it Drawing Tools Use drawing tools to add callouts, images, lines, shapes, and text
Most tools have additional settings that appear below the Image tool
Editing Tools Use editing tools to:
Pan and zoom the map
Select, cut, copy, paste, and delete parts of the map
Redo and undo actions
Export Export sketch as a PDF or PNG file Layer Default: Blank canvas
Background: Use an image you uploaded as the canvas to draw the sketch on
Tool Positions Move markings made with tools in front of or behind each other - Optional. To cancel the sketch, close the Add Sketch window. Result: The window closes. If the system automatically saved the sketch, it is available the next time you take the Add Sketch action. See Create or Resume a Sketch, step 2, Resume [sketch name], above
Optional. Restart. Restarting a sketch deletes it. Restarting a sketch is only available if you have not manually saved the sketch (in other words, restarting can only be done if the only way the sketch has been saved is by the system automatically saving it).
To restart the sketch, click Restart. Result: The Sketch Options window appears: Type a sketch name and choose how to start the sketch (blank canvas, image, map).
Click Save. Result: The Add Sketch window closes and ticket history updated to "Sketch Added." The sketch is accessible as below:
- Item: The sketch is accessible from the Sketches tab (next to the History tab)
- Ticket: The sketch is accessible from the Sketch icon ( ) (in the upper right corner of the ticket text window)
You can export one or more sketches as PNG images in a ZIP file.
To export a single sketch as a PDF or a PNG file from the sketch itself, open the sketch and click Export (scroll down). See Modify and Export Sketch, step 2, above.
Find saved sketches. Ticket and Item Details pages store sketches in different locations:
Details Page Description Item - On the Item Details page, in the upper middle of the page, click the Sketches tab (next to the History tab). Result: The saved sketches appear
- Check the boxes for the sketches to export
Ticket - On the Ticket Details page, in the upper right corner of the ticket text window, click Sketches ( ). Result: The Sketch Summary window appears
- On the Sketch Summary window, check the boxes for the sketches to export
- At the bottom left corner, click Export. Result: The Sketch Summary window closes (ticket sketches only). The sketches appear on the Exports page as a ZIP file
