Use the Sketching feature to draw sketches and store them with tickets and items. The Sketch feature is an action on the Full Web Ticket Details and Item Details pages and on the Mobile Web item details page.
On the Sketching Configuration Summary page:
Use Tools to add custom line styles, colors, and units of measurement that supplement the drawing tools on the Add Sketch window
Use Toolboxes to organize tools
The current version of a sketch is archived as an attachment when the ticket is archived. Sketches can be downloaded as ZIP files from archived tickets. You can add sketches to archived tickets.
Groups, Tickets, Items
Sketching is configured in Groups and applies to tickets by default. To add sketching to items, do both steps
Groups. Go to Groups > Modify Group > Permissions and give the group the three Sketching permissions:
ModifySketch
ViewSketch
ViewSketchingConfiguration
- Optional. Items. To add Sketching to items, change these settings in each group and form that needs sketching:
- Group: Go to the group, find the form, and check the box for the Add Sketch action. See Groups > Manage actions for apps
- Form (app): For each form, turn on the Add Sketch action. Find the form in the App Designer, then see Form Settings > Actions > Add Sketch
Use toolboxes to organize sketch tools and make them available to groups of users.
- On the top menu bar, click System Management ( ) > Administration > General > Sketching
- On the Sketch Configuration Summary page, in the left column, click Add Sketching Configuration
- On the Sketch Configuration page, fill in the fields. See Modify Toolbox, step 2, below
- On the Sketching Configuration Summary page, in the Sketch Toolboxes section, in the Name column, click the toolbox to modify
On the Sketch Configuration page, fill in the fields
Field Description Color Choose the colors used by toolbox General Choose the name of the toolbox Groups Choose the groups that can use the toolbox Tools Choose the tools in the toolbox. See Sketch Tools, below
- Click Move ( ) to drag and drop tools
- Click Save
These sketch tools are custom tools that supplement the drawing tools used in the Sketch feature. These tools determine the line patterns (dashes, dots) and text for the lines used to draw sketches. They appear in the Add Sketch window, under the Application heading. They are organized in sketch toolboxes (see above).
- On the top menu bar, click System Management ( ) > Administration > General > Sketching
- On the Sketching Configuration Summary page, in the left column, click Add Sketching Tool
- On the Add a Sketching Tool Detail page, fill in the fields. See Modify Sketching Tool, step 3, below
- On the Sketching Configuration Summary page, in the Sketch Tools section, in the Name column, click the sketch tool to modify
- On the Sketching Tool Detail page, in the left column, click Modify this Sketching Tool
On the Modify Sketching Tool page, fill in the fields:
Field Description Dashes Choose the dash pattern of the line used to draw the sketch. Choose the color of the line used to draw the sketch Icon Click Browse to upload the icon you want to use as the pattern of the line used to draw the sketch Name Choose the name of the sketch tool Text Choose the text that appears in line with the dashes. If the text is more than ten characters, only the text will display (there will be no dashes) - Click Save
Choose the units used in sketches (feet or meters).
- On the top menu bar, click System Management ( ) > Administration > General > Sketching
- On the Sketching Configuration Summary page, in the left column, click Configure Sketching Units
On the Configure Sketching Measure Tool Units page, fill in the fields:
Distance and Rule displayed in feet
Distance and Rules displayed in meters
- Click Save
